In my medication-induced haze Thursday night, I was turning the dial on the clock radio trying to get the Golden State Warriors game. As the last bit of my strength ran out, the dial ended up on CBS Radio. They were doing short pieces about random local news. There was one story that really caught my ear. Supposedly, Gavin Newsom, the mayor of San Francisco, hired seven new senior staff for the Mayor’s Office with funds for MUNI. Huh? You can do that?

Being sick bites.
I thought the sore throat and stuffy nose from Wednesday would be gone after a good night’s sleep, I was wrong. I took this medication called Sucrets which worked wonders. My sore throat was gone in an instant and my nose wasn’t as clogged. Unfortunately, Sucrets had a side effect they don’t list on the box or their website.
Sucrets numbs your mouth. Not the good “Haha, I talk funny now” dentist numb, rather it numbs the roof of your mouth and parts of your tongue numb. But, it does leave the bitter taste buds intact.
So, I popped this pill and it melts away right before lunch. I picked up a Vietnamese sandwich at this place on 2nd called Muffins, Muffins. My first bite had absolutely no taste. But, as I pushed it further down my throat, I could taste the bitterness of the greens. The meat had this gravelly texture as well. I could feel the fat granules from the meat, but it had no taste. If there was one time in my life where I would have gladly been a vegan, it was right then at that moment.
So what have we learned from this experience? Sucrets – the secret weapon used by vegans to convert carnivores to their cause!
I can not handle cold weather.
Born and raised in San Francisco, I prefer the outside temperature to be around the high 60s to low 70s with mild humidity and slight wind. Vibrant blue skies and fluffy white clouds would round out the perfect day.

Perfect Day

The reason for my political birth is finally here. Propositions 94 through 97 involve four indian gaming casinos and their request to increase the number of slot machines by thousands. In return, these four casinos will pay a larger annual payment to the State’s General Fund.

On recommendation from wutaku, I’ve installed the WP-Youtube 2.0 plugin created by Jens Törnell.
The plugin works beautifully. In the YouTube Profile manager, you can assign color to the video player and save it under a profile to be used by any poster. The actual code to post up a video is pretty intuitive–[profile]YouTube ID[profile]. The YouTube ID is the code seen at the end of the URL from the YouTube links. Once published, that piece of code magically changes to the YouTube video!
What’s awesome is the auto-start option that can be set for a profile where the video plays once the page loads. If I were cruel and evil, I could set up one such profile and Rick Roll visitors on the jump!

The SFGate article, “Yahoo expected to cut hundreds of jobs” got me thinking about the evolution of Yahoo from a search engine to a web portal. I still remember that awful grey background Yahoo originally used. Then sometime between Yahoo’s plan to become a one stop web portal and the rise of Google, Yahoo’s popularity dropped off the radar.

In the future, here on Frobie, there will be blog posts authored by people other than myself. They are stray bloggers I picked up off the Xanga scrap heap and given a home.
In the past, I use to create a subdomain and install an entire new WordPress for them. But, the space it takes for a new installation really piles up. Utilizing WordPress’ role system, I can give them contributor access to one central blog. Now, I can totally supress their voice and no one will be the wiser!
All kidding aside, a few of the strays have their own “topic” blogs which I contribute towards–a bay area sports blog and a hype machine blog. Frobie, however, will remain as a personal blog for myself and the select few I trust to not put up anything illegal. You know who you are.
There is nothing more satisfying then holding another person’s future in the palm of your hands. This is what Proposition 93 is all about, to decide how long career politicians can spend their time in the Assembly or the Senate of California.

The duplicity Proposition 91 represented is one of the reasons why it is hard for the general public to generate interest in voting. Fortunately, Proposition 92 is much more interesting and relevant to where I am currently in life.

On February 5, 2008, California will hold ballots to decide the fate of Prop 91-97. While watching the Warriors game the other night, commercials for and against the indian gaming propositions were shown incessantly. Although, TV had been the standard source for my political views, it’s probably a good idea to do some research now that I have an investment in the welfare of this state. Getting taxed so heavily makes people politically aware–I’m sure someone in history stated that before.
