It’s times like these where you find yourself taking a step back and exclaiming, “You’ve gotta be shitting me!”

Proposition C wants San Francisco to acquire Alcatraz Island from the federal government in order to create a Global Peace Center. The propositions calls for a portion of the historic penitentiary to be torn down in order to build multimedia centers and a dome. They also want a statue of St. Francis to be erected to welcome ships entering the Bay.

This is not a joke.

The founders of this initiative set up a website with more information on the matter.

Not only would this proposition cost waaaaaay too much money, how many people will actually visit a Global Peace Center. The place will probably be a ghost town after its built, similar to Disneyland in foreign countries in terms of visitors.

I’m just perplexed as to how this group was able to get the required 10,396 signatures to put this up on the ballot. What’s wrong with you San Francisco?! Does anyone read what they sign anymore?

For the love of our sanity, please, please vote no on Proposition C.
