Movie Review: Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay

Harold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo BayHarold and Kumar Escape From Guantanamo Bay is a hilarious hour and a half adventure of two marijuana smoking buddies getting into trouble.  The story starts a week after the end of the first movie, Harold and Kumar Go To Whitecastle.  The two are flying to Amsterdam so Harold can hook up with Maria.  Except that they never land in Amsterdam because Kumar is suspected of being a terrorist on the plane.

The comedy style is inline with the first movie.  If you liked the first movie, you’ll like Escape from Guantanamo Bay.  If you hated the first movie, you’ll probably hate this one too.  The main plot is driven by love, but sex and weed are still key elements in the storyline.

Movie Review: Stardust

stardust.jpgStardust is a surprisingly good movie. I don’t remember seeing anything about this movie in 2007, so I watched it not knowing what to expect. Turns out, that made for a better viewing experience.

This movie is a medieval fantasy tale about a fallen star and the ensuing chase to obtain the powers to be had from the star. Movie Review: Family Guy Blue Harvest

Blue HarvestFamily Guy meets Star Wars. This movie is hilarious! Take the wacky yet brilliant humor of Family Guy and apply it to Star Wars Episode 4: A New Hope. The result is one damn entertaining movie.

The only gripe I had with the movie was its length. It is about 45 minutes long. This “movie” is actually the season 6 opener, aired on TV in September, 2007. The 45 minute length is the amount of content shown during a regular hour of broadcast television, with commercials filling up the rest of the time. It would have been great if this movie was feature length, say 80 minutes or so.

Movie Review: American Gangster

american_gangster_movie_cover.jpgAmerican Gangster is a great movie. The story is excellent and very well paced. I usually complain about long movies, but not this one. Coming in at a whooping 157 minutes, its over two and a half hours long, but the movie puts every bit of that to good use.

American Gangster is a movie based on the life of Frank Lucas, a drug lord in Harlem, New York during the 1960s and 1970s. Frank, played by Denzel Washington, worked as a driver for Bumpy Johnson, a drug dealer in New York. After Bumpy dies, Frank takes over. Slowly but surely, Frank Lucas owns Harlem. Continue reading
